An ongoing experiment
in site-specific, non-linear, immersive storytelling.
Winter-Land is a two month long immersive experience
constructed in the frozen Canadian north, open to the public from December 1st
to January 31st
Each year the narrative of Winter-Land will continue to
evolve, while the set and location where the events take place, remain the
same.
The experience will mostly be enjoyed in an open world,
free-roam format, where guests can explore and engage as they choose; gradually
piecing together the narrative as the night goes on, or simply enjoying the creative
ambiance, and the wide variety of immersive activities offered within.
The experience itself will surround themes of early European
winter-folklore, and will take the shape
of an old village and market place, created and decorated by mysterious
outsiders, for locals to celebrate and participate in their joyful and
cheer-filled Mid-Winter festivities.
As guests explore the town and participate in the activities
held, the shiny veneer of the decorated village will slowly fade, as bright
and shiny peculiarities turn into ominous and dark realizations, regarding the
towns true function and purpose.
The Year One narrative will include but is not limited to:
“Santa”, Santa’s Elfs, Dwarves: The Daemonic inventors and
artificers of the North, cheerful old Gnomes tending their pine-filled red
Amanita speckled arctic gardens, Tired human’s tending the Reindeer stables and
Yule-Goat pens, large looming Yeti’s from the frozen north, Krampus, Draugs,
hidden offerings to forbidden monolithic-snowmen, and a tree lighting
ceremony.
Doors open at 5:00 pm and close at 2:00am, Friday – Sunday.
